View of St. Mark's Church coming from Main Street

Most events are held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 15 Pearl Street, Mystic, CT 06355. Events held at other locations are emphasized by this font. Holy days and most secular holidays are noted this way. 14 Pentecost, for example, means the 14th Sunday after Pentecost.

Daily or weekly events, such as Morning Prayer, the Holy Eucharist at StoneRidge, are described in detail on the Description & Schedule Page, along with some monthly events such as the Healing Service.

The last Sunday in 2009 for Summer Choir was on September 6th, the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend.

After Labor Day we said farewell to "Lemonade on the Lawn" until Memorial Day Weekend of 2010. Please join us for Fair Trade coffee, tea, juice, and other beverages (and cookies or cake!) in the Undercroft after the 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM Sunday services.

Now that summer has wound down, activities such as Church School, choir and handbell practice have resumed. Church School resumed with Balloon Sunday and Parish Breakfast on the 13th of September. There is a whole Page of pictures!

The book discussion group Theology Sandwiched In returned on the 24th at noon.

Parish Breakfast - September 13th at 9:00 AM
Balloon Sunday: Church School began - September 13th at 9:45 AM

See the photos of Balloon Sunday and the Parish Breakfast.

Saint Mark's new Church School and program year began with Balloon Sunday's parish breakfast. Everyone was invited to this celebration of the beginning of the 2009-2010 program year. The breakfast was held in the Undercroft at 9 AM. Parents and children were invited to meet the Church School teachers and learn about the Church School's plans and activities for this year.

Thanks to Bob Welt, there is a whole Page of photographs of the Parish Breakfast and Balloon Sunday.

Registration for church school took place during breakfast. Church School classes were held following the breakfast at the usual time of 9:45.

The Adult Forum began on Sunday, September 20st at the usual time of 9:00 AM.

"The Diocese [of Connecticut] is divided into 14 geographic units called deaneries, each with an elected dean, sub-dean, secretary and treasurer. These were established decades ago as a way to improve communication and encourage collaborative ministry, and replaced an older model of archdeaconries."

"The diocesan bishop views the deanery system as a helpful way to gather clergy and parishes regionally. Confirmations are held on a deanery basis, and bishops meet with each deanery's clergy on a regular basis. Elected lay delegates to convention serve as delegates to their deanery as well."

(The two quoted paragraphs are from the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut Web Site (external Site). The Seabury Deanery Site (WWW.SeaburyDeanery.Org) has much more information which is specific to the Seabury Deanery.
