St. Mark's annual Parish Picnic was held on Sunday the 6th of June following the 10 o'clock Eucharist.

On Sunday the 13th of June St. Mark's celebrated several of our young people having been confirmed as part of the "Confirm, not Conform" program. "Confirm, not Conform" is a confirmation program that emphasizes giving youth a choice and a voice, and giving adults a safe space to explore their questions and choices.

June Special Events

Lemonade on the Lawn returned on Sunday, May 30

From Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend, instead of gathering after each Sunday service for Coffee Hour in the Undercroft, we gather for lemonade on the lawn in front of the church. The Adult Forum, usually held between the 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM services, takes a summer vacation. The combination of warm weather, informality, and open space often means that we get to know one another better.

Don't like lemonade? There's always an alternative: Fruit juice, punch, or bottled water. There are cookies, brownies, et cetera, too.

As with Coffee Hour, volunteer hosts are always needed. It is a fine way to meet your fellow parishioners! There is a signup sheet in the Undercroft.

The Arts & Crafts Fundraiser to benefit the Toddler Playgroup raised more than $3,100!

Saturday the 19th of June from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM.

Funds for scholarships to needy students have been severely reduced due to decreases in grant funding. 100% of the sales at the Fundraiser went to the Playgroup.

There is a lot of artistic talent in St. Mark's Parish, and among our families and friends. Many people donated some of their work, such as painting, drawing, photography, woodworking, sculpture, quilting, and other arts and crafts. Bids were be confidential (i.e., closed bidding), with minimum starting bids.

For further information please contact Marlene Santucci, Marianne Wydler, or Jeanette Mayo-Upholz.

"The Diocese [of Connecticut] is divided into 14 geographic units called deaneries, each with an elected dean, sub-dean, secretary and treasurer. These were established decades ago as a way to improve communication and encourage collaborative ministry, and replaced an older model of archdeaconries."

"The diocesan bishop views the deanery system as a helpful way to gather clergy and parishes regionally. Confirmations are held on a deanery basis, and bishops meet with each deanery's clergy on a regular basis. Elected lay delegates to convention serve as delegates to their deanery as well."

The two paragraphs quoted above are from the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut Web Site (external Site). The Seabury Deanery Site (WWW.SeaburyDeanery.Org) has much more information which is specific to the Seabury Deanery.
