We gathered at 9:00 AM in the barking ... oops, parking lot for the blessing of all our animals, including stuffed animals.
Following the short service of thanksgiving and blessing, an interspecies social hour was held with snacks appropriate for each of God's creatures.
There are also Pages of photos from the 2009 Blessing of the Animals and the 2008 Blessing of the Animals.

CROP stands for Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty. CROP Walks support the work of Church World Services (external Site), an ecumenical organization of many denominations.
The Walk started at St. Mark's, then went to Noank Baptist Church and back. The Walk is always held, no matter what the weather.
One quarter of the funds raised by the annual walk are returned to the Mystic Area Ecumenical Council-related charities MASH (Mystic Area Shelter and Hospitality) and Care and Share.

To Kill a Mockingbird is still as relevant today as it was when it was written 50 years ago. Do children still read it in school? In this Internet age, would Scout's father read books to her? Are there still Atticus Finches in the 21st century?
Each month a different book will be chosen for reading and discussion. People usually bring a bag lunch; beverages are provided.
Remember to ask for your reading group discount at Bank Square Books (external Site).

"The Diocese [of Connecticut] is divided into 14 geographic units called deaneries, each with an elected dean, sub-dean, secretary and treasurer. These were established decades ago as a way to improve communication and encourage collaborative ministry, and replaced an older model of archdeaconries."
"The diocesan bishop views the deanery system as a helpful way to gather clergy and parishes regionally. Confirmations are held on a deanery basis, and bishops meet with each deanery's clergy on a regular basis. Elected lay delegates to convention serve as delegates to their deanery as well."
The two paragraphs quoted above are from the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut Web Site (external Site). The Seabury Deanery Site (WWW.SeaburyDeanery.Org) has much more information which is specific to the Seabury Deanery.
