Combined Capital Campaign / Annual Pledge Drive Update

Gordon Fader, who tracks donations to the campaign, reports that a total of $87,223.82 has been received as of late April, 2009. "The steady inflow of your contributions enables us to maintain momentum with the planned refurbishment projects.", Gordon Fader said.

In May, 2009 the Undercroft will be painted. During June, 2009 the church will be repainted.

A new fence around the Toddler Playgroup playground has been installed as a joint project of Refurbishment Campaign II and the Playgroup.

A new baby-changing station has been installed in the Undercroft restroom.

The large red church doors have been tightened up and re-aligned. This will help reduce heating costs and increase comfort.

Pew re-alignment at St. Mark's Church in Mystic, CT

During early April 2009 two pews were re-aligned.

People who are in wheelchairs or are mobility-impaired can now be in the middle of the congregation and not feel relegated to the back of the church.

The pews that were shortened blend in so well that many people didn't notice the change until they went forward for Communion. Kudos to the craftsmen!

This work was made possible by funds from the Capital Campaign. Many thanks to all who made contributions! Everyone who comes to St. Mark's benefits from your generosity.

Chairman Kurt Cramer announced a goal of $500,000 to fund projects to restore and upgrade church properties, restore the Refurbishment Fund[1], and make outreach contributions to support the Bishop's Fund for Children and the St. Luc's Church and School in Haiti. The Chairman also announced that $234,250 was pledged by 16 pledge units[2] to lead the campaign!

We are especially grateful for the leadership provided by the Refurbishment Campaign II Steering Committee

Guidance for Donors

Capital Campaign funds will be kept completely separate from annual funds. Here are some guidelines to be sure that your payment is properly credited:

Definitions

[1] Refurbishment Fund
The "Refurbishment Fund" was established to finance major repairs or renovations to the church building or property, such as the recent replacement of the roof over the sanctuary. The previous Capital Campaign was quite some time ago, the funds raised then have been depleted; hence the need for Refurbishment Campaign II.
