If climbing steps is not a problem for you, please use the front entrance. If stairs would be a burden, please use the side entrance nearest the street, and then take the elevator from the Undercroft to the Sanctuary.
St. Mark's Church is located in the village of Mystic, within the town of Groton, in New London County, in the Southeastern corner of Connecticut. Whether you are driving a car, sailing a boat, walking, or how ever you get to St. Mark's Church, welcome!
From Interstate Route 95: (Other directions are below, including directions by boat.)From Interstate Route 95 take exit 89 (Allyn Street). At the end of the ramp, turn toward downtown Mystic (from I-95 Northbound, turn right; from I-95 Southbound, turn left).
Once on Allyn Street, continue South approximately one and a half miles, passing through an intersection with both a flashing light and a stop sign, to a stop light at the junction with Route 1 (New London Road). The speed limits are strictly enforced.
Turn left (East) onto Route 1, heading down the hill toward downtown Mystic. Pearl Street is less than half a mile from here. Follow Route 1 as it becomes West Main Street.
Mystic Pizza will be on your left on West Main Street; take the next left after Mystic Pizza onto Pearl Street.
St. Mark's Church will be approximately one-tenth of a mile on your left on Pearl Street. Either turn left into the Church parking lot or park on the street.
Head South on Route 27 toward Mystic Seaport and downtown Mystic.
At the first stop light after Mystic Seaport, turn right (West) onto Willow Street. If you miss this turn, just see Don't panic! below.
On Willow Street you will be forced to turn left (South) onto Broadway Avenue. There should be a sign saying "Downtown Mystic".
Proceed through the first stop sign on Broadway Avenue. At the second stop sign you will be facing a memorial in the middle of the road; turn right (West) onto Route 1 (East Main Street), heading toward downtown Mystic.
(Don't panic! If you missed the turn from Route 27 onto Willow Street, just stay on Route 27 South to Route 1, then turn right [West] onto Route 1 [East Main Street]. You'll come to the memorial mentioned immediately above; follow the directions from the step immediately below.)
Follow Route 1 over the drawbridge, where it becomes West Main Street.
After you cross the drawbridge, you will be on West Main Street; take your second right onto Pearl Street.
St. Mark's Church will be approximately one-tenth of a mile on your left on Pearl Street. Either turn left into the Church parking lot or park on the street.
Anchor, moor, or dock on the Mystic River, preferably near the highway drawbridge in downtown Mystic.
The drawbridge on Route 1 is the easiest landmark to find on the Mystic River. East of the drawbridge Route 1 is known as East Main Street. West of the drawbridge Route 1 is known as West Main Street.
Two blocks West of the drawbridge in downtown Mystic, Pearl Street turns starboard (North) from West Main Street.
Walk North along Pearl Street until you see St. Mark's Church to port (West).
