St. Mark's Annual Christmas Bazaar is always held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving (the 4th Thursday in November) usually from 10 AM until 4 PM.

A big "Thank You!" to Bob Welt and Sandi Eddy for these pictures!

St. Mark's Christmas Bazaar (yes, sometimes it's bizarre)

The chalk sign by the Silent Auction area was probably not intended to be a comment on the normalcy or bizarreness of the Bazaar! We suspect that somebody's enthusiasm and beautiful handwriting exceeded their spelling....

Most of the work of the Christmas Bazaar goes unseen. St. Mark's Quilters sew quilts with love in every stitch. You'll find quilts from baby size through full size. There are more quilt pictures below.

St. Mark's Crafters make one-of-kind items throughout the year. Wreaths, our famous apple pies, and other next-to-last-minute creations are made in the weeks leading up to the Bazaar.

Days beforehand people bring everything from tables to display their treasures to canned soda for the lunch room.

Sometimes the biggest smiles come from the smallest customers.

St. Mark's Lunchroom is always popular at the Bazaar. Even the people who work in the kitchen eat in the Lunchroom!

Strategically placed at the other end of the Lunchroom is the Silent Auction area. There was everything from a large framed mirror to glassware to the chairs seen at the right.

The Silent Auction always brings an eclectic collection to St. Mark's Christmas Bazaar Even with a little wait, nobody walked away from the cookies and other treats. Silent Auction items drew a lot of attention.

Down the hall from the Lunchroom there were many bargains to be had. Not all of them were, shall we say, "seasonally appropriate"....

'Hmmm', says Michael. 'Sure and he's a happy looking gent, but a little out of season.' Down the hall was a decorated Christmas tree, a sure reminder of the season. Emily awaits the decision. Fine jewelry was available in the Library. There's always a wide selection at St. Mark's Christmas Bazaar Even yards of fabric were available at St. Mark's Christmas Bazaar

Bears, oh my! Even though she's surrounded, Sandi doesn't look concerned; she's enjoying her Lunchroom chili and coffee.

Each year people in Africa hand-craft jewelry, napkin rings, bookends, and other unique items and send them for sale in the United States. The proceeds are shared by the local Episcopal churches and the crafters in Africa.

Selling the African products at bazaars such as St. Mark's is the most fair of Fair Trade practices. The artists who create the necklaces, bracelets, and carved animals receive just compensation for their labor.

Libby wraps fragile jewelry from Africa, keeping it carefully untangled.

There were sports bears at St. Mark's Christmas Bazaar, too! My favorite is the Harley rider.

Quilts are always popular at St. Mark's Christmas Bazaar. The Quilters work all year to create the dozens of designs and many sizes that St. Mark's Quilters are known for. Can you imagine how many hundreds of hours' work is on display?

No, your eyes do not deceive you. The lady in the purple really is working on a quilt for next year's Bazaar!

Even experienced quilters admire the beautiful workmanship in the St. Mark's Quilters' work.
Quilt styles at St. Mark's Christmas Bazaar range from the classic to the unconventional. Quilt sizes range from huge to small.

In addition to the quilts, there were knit towel tops (just barely visible under the shelf to the left) that make keeping a towel handy easy even in a busiest kitchen.

Marianne, at the left, has been one of the chief organizers of St. Mark's Christmas Bazaar for years.

Just down the hall from the quilts, there were books for every taste in reading. (A very dangerous room for some of us!)

After the Bazaar was over and the money all turned in, the people who had worked so hard had a potluck victory dinner.
