Dinner and Dominoes for Haiti

Dominoes, anyone? It is one of the most popular games in Haiti, and is a highlight of the ecumenical dinner being sponsored by St. Mark's on Saturday, August 21st at 5 PM.

In addition to instruction in this much-loved Haitian game, Dinner and Dominoes for Haiti will feature vegetarian and Haitian appetizers, entrees, and desserts, as well as a variety of refreshments.

A free-will offering at the dinner will benefit the children of St. Luc's School in Mercery, Haiti, 35 miles west of Port-au-Prince. This is the third year that St. Mark's has been raising funds for salaries of teachers at the coeducational elementary school. Despite the ravages of the January 12th earthquake, the approximately 140 students returned to school in early April.

Arts & Crafts Fundraiser Exceeds $3,100 to Benefit Toddler Playgroup

Funds for scholarships to needy students have been severely reduced due to decreases in grant funding. 100% of the sales at the Fundraiser went to the Playgroup.

There is a lot of artistic talent in St. Mark's Parish, and among our families and friends. Many people donated their paintings, drawings, photography, woodworking, sculpture, and other works of art.

Special thanks to Marianne Wydler and Jeanette Mayo-Upholz who conceived of the idea and brought it to reality!

Summer has officially arrived. Please just us for Lemonade on the Lawn after each Sunday service.
